About this Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the Lunar surface. Through the On-board- LVM-3. Its duration is only 1/2 Lunar day i.e. Only about 14 Earth Days.

Why Moon's South Pole?
Possibility of Water- Though water is figured to be considered available on both poles, the South Pole has more area and comparatively colder temperatures where freezer water is available.
The South Pole witnesses Extreme Cold temperatures- As frozen elements are easy to handle and even to research & work upon Soil and rock are a clue for the early solar systems.
Mainly launching in the South pole of the Moon because of Aitken Basin.
This mission will be India's second Launch Mission. Before Chandrayaan 2 was launched in 2019, in the form of an orbiter entering into orbit around the moon, the surface mission under Chandrayaan 2 failed and the lander crashed.
Now, Chandrayaan -3 consists of a lander and a Rover which is similar to Chandrayaan 2 but not an orbiter.
