Growing Cyber Security Challenges

Technology has always been the contributing factor to advancement and development with ever-changing technology and advancements security challenges are going beyond traditional domains of land, sea, and air and new forms of conflicts are emerging.

Cyber security nowadays is becoming a grave issue in today's Indian context. It is one of the most significant emerging domains of warfare seeking attention. By that, we can determine the increasing threat of hacking disruption and potential sabotage.


As India grows as a Digital economy, threats rise.

According to recent estimates of 2020, India ranked 10th worldwide. Out of which the new cyber security strategy is now being formulated. India flags sophisticated use of cyberspace by terrorists. And it says cyber threats can not be resolved while being in isolation. India is committed to open, free space & secure, and accessible cyberspace.


India, like any other country, faces a wide range of cyber security threats. Here are some of the key cyber security threats that have been prevalent in India:-

  1. Malware and Ransomware Attacks

  2. Phishing and Social Engineering

  3. Data Breaches

  4. Financial Cybercrime:

  5. Identity Theft

  6. Cyber Espionage

  7. Cyberbullying and Online Harassment

  8. Insider Threats

These are just some of the cyber security threats faced by India. Individuals, businesses, and the government need to prioritize cyber security measures, including regular software updates, strong authentication, employee awareness training, and incident response planning, to mitigate these threats.


The Indian Government has taken several steps & measures to combat the cyber security menace and strengthen the country's overall cyber security posture some of them are as follows:-

  1. National Cyber Security Policy: The Indian government formulated the National Cyber Security Policy in 2013 to provide a framework for addressing various cyber security challenges.

  2. National Cyber Coordination Centre (NCCC): The NCCC was established to enhance situational awareness and enable timely responses to cyber security incidents.

  3. Information Sharing and Collaboration: The government promotes information sharing and collaboration among various stakeholders, including government agencies, industry, academia, and international partners.

  4. Capacity Building and Skill Development: The government has emphasized the importance of capacity building and skill development in the field of cyber security. Initiatives such as skill development programs, training workshops, and cybersecurity awareness campaigns aim to enhance the cybersecurity expertise of individuals, professionals, and law enforcement agencies.

Defence cyber agency is a tri-service command, tasked with handling cyber security threats drawing personnel from three branches of the armed forces.

  • National Critical Information Infastructure centre (NCIIPC)

Through this as well as cyber security is a growing disaster for today's generation where none of our data is safe on the web we as individuals can take some commemorative steps towards these such as installing virus detecting and treating software such as eg.
